We accompany those in need to Government departments, health and legal facilities and assist them with applications for services that they or their family members may be eligible for. In some cases we may also provide transport or assist with transportation costs.
To keep in touch with whats happening in the communities we work in, once a month we provide a fun day for kids and parents. Kids can play games, win prizes, receive haircuts and hear and discuss a Bible story.
Parents have an opportunity to take some time out, share with us any needs and concerns they may have, receive a few food and clothing items and take part in a short Bible message and discussion.
"Meals on Wheels" are provided at least once a week to the sick, disabled and to those in difficulty/emergency/crisis situations. The meals are prepared and delivered by local Von & On workers who are supported on a project basis, which helps them and their families while at the same time helping others.
We assist those who are struggling to pay for much needed medical attention, surgeries, medications and supplies on a case by case basis. We assist with funding of funeral costs for those who have little or no means to pay.
For many parents in the communities we work in, providing their kids with school supplies and uniforms is a big challenge. Without them, kids cannot attend school, so every August we help to provide back-to-school supplies and uniforms to the kids in our communities.
Once a month on a Saturday afternoon we visit an orphanage in central Tijuana to play games with the kids, share a Bible story, eat pizza and watch a movie. (A tradition started many years ago by Pastor Von).
Several times a year we offer sewing classes. During the classes students learn to make items that can be used for the ministry, (blankets, hats, pencil cases etc.) These items are distributed back into the communities and serve as a way for the students to earn a sewing machine after completion of 12 classes. As well as gaining a skill which provides income, the classes provide a place where students can find friendship, support, encouragement and prayer.
We distribute Spanish Bibles, Bible study materials and Christian books to children, youth and adults, especially to those who express an interest and desire to learn about God and grow in their faith. We host Bible classes periodically and share the Gospel in informal settings as well, encouraging seekers and believers to connect with local pastors and churches.
